Short of the severely handicapped, I for one believe that everyone *can* cook, even if that means for some nothing more complicated than a deli sandwich, a skillet of Hamburger Helper, or even warming up a can of soup for himself and his child.

Cooking very well may be tough, as can painting very well, but if someone causes no harm and does an awful lot of good for himself or his family by creating what little bit of primitive art that he can, who are we to tell him he shouldn't?

Thanks!

Actually, the "friends fight over nonsense misunderstanding" bit was my husband's biggest complaint with the movie, too.

Excellent points about the contradictions present in this film.

I happen to think that anytime a "critic" character like Ego's is put in a film it is because the filmmaker is nervous about negative criticism and is trying to head it off at the pass by undermining any criticism other than high praise. The same effect happened in "Lady in the Water."

Personally, I feel this film is far superior to "The Incredibles," if only because Bird was actually making his own ideas instead of cribbing off 20 years of recent comic book writing. That said, it was too long and the second half become tediously predictable(friends fight over nonsense misunderstanding, then come back together in time for the final reel).
