Interesting. Now I REALLY want an analysis of the reasons behind the cultural shift among Pentecostals (not saying that you need to provide it, Pop Otter--I just think it would have been a much more interesting and significant topic for the documentary).

My impression is that New Life Church is what many suburban Pentecostal churches are. They have been influenced by the church growth movement (Willow Creek, Saddleback, etc.), the charismatic renewal movement (the Holy Spirit for upscale Christians), and the third wave movement (Vineyard), and so they are less removed from middle class and upper middle class behaviors than their Pentecostal forebearers, but their Pentecostal roots are still there. Haggard's father was a charismatic. His sending pastor and his ministry training are connected to the Pentecostal Oral Roberts University. Several of the New Life Overseers and Restoration Committee are Pentecostals. It is true that there is one non-Pentecostal/non-charismatic Nazarene in the group, but as a whole New Life Church embodies what Pentecostals are becoming.
