I enjoyed Saved, but there were several key moments that revealed that the filmmakers didn't know their topic of evangelical subculture as well as they should have . . . Still, it was funny. And Michael Stipe (R.E.M.) was involved, which guaranteed that I had to see it. "Baby Got Book" didn't strike any of those false notes, though. And that makes sense, since I've discovered that it was made by Intervarsity Christian Fellowship folks. I'm pleased to discover that Intervarsity has a sense of humor . . . something I wouldn't have guessed from its dealings with icelimbo. I can't stop dancing around the house singing, "NIV with a ribbon bookmark!" Yeah, watching Saved could help.
